How Ecommerce Brands Stepped Up to Support Relief Efforts Following Los Angeles Wildfires

The devastating wildfires that swept across Los Angeles at the beginning of the year were the most catastrophic in its history. Beginning in early January, the wildfires tore through L.A county, spurred on by the Santa Ana winds and extremely dry conditions. California officials are preparing for a historic relief recovery program after the Palisades and Eaton Fires razed the area, burning entire communities to the ground and claiming at least 28 lives. The financial toll of the fires is estimated at $164 billion, making them one of the deadliest and costliest in US history. 

In response to the disaster, several ecommerce brands have stepped up, using their platform or business to raise funds, provide assistance in the relief efforts, and support first responders. Whether through sales of limited edition products going towards the fire relief efforts, supply drives, or direct donations, ecommerce brands have done their best to support Los Angeles at this time. 

Here are some ecommerce brands who have stepped up to support or supplement Los Angeles relief efforts. 

  1. Clare V

Today its physical storefronts can be found across the United States, but L.A based handbag and accessories brand Clare V  was one of the first ecommerce startups powered by social media. Now, the brand is using its reach to support relief efforts. Customers can purchase a “Los Angeles Je T’Aime” t-shirt and baseball cap in support of the wildfire relief efforts, with 100% of profits going to the American Red Cross. 

  1. Stoney Clover Lane

Seeing the devastation that the wildfires wrought on thousands of families, the New York based accessories and luggage brand Stoney Clover Lane has used its Instagram following to mobilize support from other brands. The Stoney Clover Lane team requested donations from brands to fill its bags with care packages full of essential items for wildfire victims and families who had been displaced. Care packages were distributed in late January to wildfire victims, with help from Meena Harris and new-parent registry Babylist, who opened its Beverly Hills showrooms so wildfire victims could collect the goods. 

  1. Made by Mary

Handmade jewelry brand Made by Mary offers hand stamped jewelry designed to capture precious memories. The brand has not only offered to replace any jewelry that its customers lost in the fire, Made by Mary has also designed a California Love Disc necklace, with 100% of proceeds benefiting World Central Kitchen, which provides fresh meals to first responders and displaced families.

  1. The Clear Cut

Ecommerce jewelry brand The Clear Cut has created a special necklace to showcase LA pride, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation (LAFD). The Clear Cut’s initiative aims to provide a sense of community among Los Angeles residents, as well as support the firefighter training, equipment, and support needed to protect first responders. 

  1. Homage

Retro apparel brand Homage has released a special “City of Angels” t-shirt, sweatshirt, and kids tee, with 100% of net proceeds going to the American Red Cross. The Red Cross provides emergency housing, meals, and financial assistance to families impacted by the fires. 

  1. Rhode Skin

Hailey Bieber’s healthy skin cosmetic brand Rhode has committed $1M to local organizations providing wildfire relief through Rhode Futures Foundation (RFF). The brand has continued to allocate 1% of all sales from RFF to the relief efforts, including emergency response funding for organizations like Baby2Baby, Inclusive Action for the City, This is About Humanity, the LAUSD Education Foundation Emergency Relief Fund, and the LAFD Foundation.
