How Clean Mama is Redefining Eco-Friendly Housekeeping

Author

Becky Rapinchuk, founder of Clean Mama, has built a business around simplifying housekeeping and making it eco-friendly. Known for her signature cleaning routine, Becky isn’t just a wife, mom of three, and dog owner - she’s also a former art teacher, natural cleaning expert, and four-time author. Since 2009, she has shared practical tips and tricks online, helping busy families find peace in a clean, organized home. Her story is one of passion, persistence, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.

From Blog to Brand: The Birth of Clean Mama

What began as a humble blog in 2009 has grown into a thriving business for Becky. Initially, Clean Mama was a platform where she shared her cleaning tips and routines, quickly gaining popularity through word of mouth and online communities. In 2010, she launched Clean Mama Printables on Etsy, the first digital shop offering housekeeping printables. Over time, Clean Mama evolved into a multifaceted lifestyle brand, with a Shopify storefront and monthly membership offering practical solutions for modern households. Becky’s goal from the start has been simple yet impactful:

“Share a simple cleaning routine to help busy families clean their homes in less time.”

Her passion for teaching, rooted in her decade as an educator, fuels her mission to empower others through actionable advice and sustainable products.

The Turning Point: Clean Mama’s Own Line of Products

In 2015, Becky took a bold leap by launching her own line of cleaning products.

“I was sharing products and affiliate links, but none of them were 100% what I wanted to use.”

Frustrated by the limitations of existing products and inspired by the potential for better profit margins, she decided to create something new. Partnering with manufacturers, Becky developed a range of non-toxic, eco-friendly products that have since sold over 100,000 units.

What Makes Clean Mama Products Unique?

Clean Mama products stand out for their transparency and quality. Every ingredient is fully disclosed, and the products are made in small batches in the USA to ensure both efficacy and sustainability.

“Everything is safe and non-toxic - no rubber gloves required!”

Popular items like her laundry products, including Wool Dryer Balls and Essential Oils, replace items like disposable dryer sheets and harmful chemicals to leave your laundry smelling fresh every time.

Sustainability is central to Clean Mama’s ethos. From ultra-concentrated formulas to recyclable packaging, Becky ensures her products are as kind to the planet as they are to her loyal customers. However, she emphasizes that sustainability must be balanced with practicality:

“You have to take everything into consideration and make decisions based on your main goals, budget, and sustainability factors.”

Challenges and Success in Product Development

Launching a product line came with its own set of challenges, particularly in finding manufacturers willing to work with a small business. Initially, Becky relied on private labeling before transitioning to formulating her own products. Despite the hurdles, she describes the journey as deeply rewarding. Becky’s dedication to her community has been instrumental in Clean Mama’s evolution:

“I answer all my emails and do my best to respond to questions I see on social media - that has kept me in tune with what customers want. I bring products to market that solve problems for my customers. Listening to problems and truly wanting to provide solutions is what sets me apart and what keeps me in tune with my followers.”

This close connection allows her to design products that address real customer needs, fostering trust and loyalty each comment at a time.

A Clean and Eco-Friendly Future

As Clean Mama continues to grow, Becky remains committed to her mission of simplifying cleaning while protecting the planet. Her advice for entrepreneurs?

“I started [small], making and sharing DIY cleaning products - that’s how I got my first book deal in 2013. Sustainability is nuanced - you could have the most eco-friendly products, but everything ships from another country with potentially wasteful packaging. Take everything into consideration and make decisions based on your main goals.”

Recently, Clearco provided Clean Mama products in their Fashionably Funded NYC Cocktail Hour at Fashion Week. As a Clearo-Funded Favorite, Clean Mama delivers innovative products and practical routines. Ultimately, Becky is proving that clean spaces can also be green spaces, one home at a time.
