ABLE: Fashion with Purpose and People at the Heart

Fashion has always been a way to express creativity and culture, but behind the scenes, many workers face low wages and poor conditions. In the global garment industry, around 75 million people work in factories, yet less than 2% of these workers earn enough to support themselves. ABLE is proving there is a better way.
ABLE is a brand committed to ethical sourcing, responsible production, and lasting impact. Instead of cutting costs at the expense of people, they invest in creating safe working environments and meaningful opportunities for the women behind their clothing, jewelry, and accessories. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to reflect ABLE’s dedication to quality and longevity, empowering customers to shop in a way that aligns with their values.
The People Behind the Products at ABLE
ABLE began its journey in 2010 as a nonprofit founded by Barrett Ward and Rachel Ward. Their vision was to provide sustainable jobs for women in Ethiopia so they could create a better future for themselves and their families. They began training women how to make scarves in Addis Ababa, which is primarily a male-dominated industry. During the holidays they began selling the scarves in the US and in just 2 months sold 4,000 scarves. Over time, that vision evolved into a fashion brand dedicated to creating meaningful job opportunities for women and redefining what it means to build an ethical business.
Today, ABLE is led by CEO Misti Blasko, a seasoned fashion and retail executive with 25 years of industry experience. Having held key leadership roles at globally recognized brands like AllSaints, True Religion, and BCBG, she brings a deep understanding of both business strategy and brand evolution. Beyond her corporate expertise, Misti is a dedicated advocate for women's empowerment, actively supporting the next generation of female leaders through GenHERation and serving on the Board of Women in Retail Leadership.

Through skill development and meaningful career paths, ABLE empowers women to build a more secure future for themselves and their families. Beyond its own workforce, the brand partners with manufacturers worldwide who share its vision for ethical production and women’s empowerment.
ABLE Offers Thoughtfully Designed Products That Last
Consumers are increasingly seeking quality and longevity in their purchases. In fact, 67% of American consumers are willing to invest more in well-made products, while 29% prioritize brands committed to sustainability. ABLE simplifies that choice by creating timeless pieces built to last.
Rather than chasing fast fashion that deteriorates after a few wears, ABLE is dedicated to craftsmanship and durability. Their apparel is thoughtfully designed for everyday wear, featuring timeless silhouettes that remain stylish season after season. Their leather bags are meticulously crafted to age beautifully, developing character over time. Handcrafted at their Nashville headquarters, ABLE’s jewelry is designed to add a meaningful, personal touch. Each piece is made with care, using high-quality materials that minimize waste and are made to last.
Why ABLE Clothing Is Changing the Fashion Industry for the Better
Fashion has the power to be more than just a reflection of trends—it can be a catalyst for meaningful change. ABLE is proving that a better, more responsible fashion industry is possible—one where the artisans and makers behind every product are valued as much as the customers who wear them.
By championing ethical production, responsible sourcing, and long-term impact, ABLE is challenging the industry to rise to a higher standard. Choosing ABLE means embracing a vision for fashion built not on harm, but on dignity, opportunity, and lasting transformation.
