As the Senior Manager of Recruitment at Clearco, Michelle Corman leads our talent acquisition and implements strategies to attract top-tier professionals. Michelle began her career in learning and development under the HR umbrella at a large insurance company but strived to work in talent acquisition to help startups achieve excellence. Clearco allowed her to work in her desired field with her optimal clientele!

What is the Clearco Application and Interview Process Like?

For our prospective Clearco team members, we’ve broken down the process of applying for a role with us. It begins with a phone call with a recruiter, followed by 1-2 virtual interviews and assessment requirements specific to the role. We appreciate and value the time it takes to find a new position (we know applicants are busy!), so we ensure our interview process flows as efficiently as possible.

A Day in the Life of our Senior Manager of Recruitment

Across the Human Resources department, our team covers a variety of duties, from hiring and training to employee relations, compensation and benefits, and compliance. Key activities that Michelle takes part in throughout the day include:

Sourcing & Outreach: Consistently searching for new talent and reaching out to potential candidates.

Screening & Interviewing: Assessing candidate qualifications and deliverables through various interview stages.

Coordinating & Scheduling: Managing the logistics of the recruitment process, including scheduling interviews and coordinating with all parties.

Collaboration: Working closely with hiring managers and other team members to ensure alignment on hiring needs and processes.

Communication: Keeping candidates informed and engaged throughout the onboarding process while providing feedback and answering all questions applicants may have.

What HR Insights Can We Provide Candidates?

At Clearco, Michelle’s favorite HR tool to use is our internal applicant tracking system (ATS). This process helps the HR department remain organized and efficient. Because most companies use an ATS, it is important to reach out to someone skilled in creating documents that get your resume past the system and in front of human eyes. Major keywords and statistics can set you apart from the thousands of applications HR departments receive. 

When entering the HR field, it is important to gain practical experience. Seek out internships or co-op opportunities with large organizations to get some experience under your belt. With this hands-on experience, applicants will be much more attractive to smaller organizations and startups.

To succeed in career growth, Michelle recommends leveraging technology and focusing on the business’s needs. If you have a deep understanding of your employer, you can organize your time better, driving value for the business and professional development for yourself.
