Problem

Mr Consistent’s journey so far has been all about taking advantage of timing. As changing market dynamics shifted consumer spending habits back in 2020, Mr Consistent’s high quality, shelf-stable mixers were primed to become the next big thing in cocktails. Selling DTC online and with consumers keen for a premium cocktail at home, Mr Consistent saw rapid growth. 

Like many young brands who are scaling rapidly, the costs of growth can be high and cash flow management essential to ensure continued success. The need to maintain momentum meant marketing costs were high, as were inventory bills. This, coupled with the need to invest in larger production facilities was proving tough to juggle. The founders were reluctant to seek equity investors and at a stalemate with traditional banks for growth funding.

With Clearco’s funding, Mr Consistent has been able to upsize their production facility while simultaneously exploring experiential marketing opportunities to optimise their future growth plans. While balancing the cost of both of these endeavours may normally be prohibitive to an early stage business, Clearco has enabled this accelerated scaling with both marketing and inventory funding.

Clearco’s networks and partnerships both locally and internationally were another big drawcard for Mr Consistent as they begin to look at international expansion. The North American market is next on the agenda and Clearco’s strong presence there will be valuable for making key introductions into this new market. 

Meanwhile, Mr Consistent is continuing to grow their online store with sales growing 160% over the last 12 months. They have also made great inroads into the wholesale space having been picked up by retail outlets such as Dan Murphy's, Myer and Universal Store nationally. The team at Mr Consistent now numbers 120 and with a number of new products lined up for 2022, it’s looking like the best is yet to come.
